This Week 3-10 SEFMD WEEK!!!!

Assalamu alikum,

This week is the Science and Engineering Fair of Metro Detroit. Three of our students have chosen to submit their projects for review and judging. Please make Dua for their success.

Also, with exams coming and grades closing it is important that any and all missing on incomplete work get completed and turned into me AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I hate seeing my students' averages lowered significantly only due to missing work.

6th Grade—This week the 6th graders will continue to work with operations involving decimals focusing on decimal multiplication and division. In science, they will continue their books about sedimentary rocks while also learning about metamorphic rocks. As always, there will be a vocab quiz this Thursday and a concept quiz on Friday.

7th Grade—This week they will begin a new unit on Algebraic Expressions and Equations. This week they will focus on writing expressions to express mathematical situations and solving single step equations using the 4 operations.  In science, they will complete their cell cities and will have a quiz on the organelles of a cell as we move onto the functions of the cell.

8th Grade—This week in math we will continue transformational geometry by focusing on rotations and dilations. We will review for the exam next week. In science, students will continue work on their books about visible light along with their one-page paper and experiment evaluating light bulbs.

Also, remember that the fundraising dinner is this Saturday March 15th.

This Week 3-03

Assalamu alikum,

First, I would like to say Jazak Allah Khayr for the Du'a and condolences that I received. My husband, his family and I are very appreciative, alhamdellilah.

This week...
Science Fair will be this Tuesday, in sha’allah. Please be prepared with all materials.

In class this week:

6th Grade—In math, we will begin a new unit on Computing with decimals and percents. This week will review basic operations with decimals focusing on decimal multiplication and division.
In science, we will learn about sedimentary rocks and the processes that form them. Students will create a book telling the tale of how sedimentary rocks are formed.

7th Grade—The 7th graders are finishing their unit on percentages and will have a test this Thursday. In science, we are focusing on the structure and function of the organelles within a cell and will create a poster of a “Cell City”.

8th Grade—The students will focus on reflections and rotations this week, continuing their unit on transformational geometry. In science, we will learn about the various technologies that humans have developed to produce visible light. They will investigate various bulbs to determine which is the “best”.
